In order to meet the high demand for travel to Mallorca from Germany this Easter, Lufthansa Group (which includes Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Eurowings and Eurowings Discover) will operate two of its aircraft for intercontinental flights, the Boeing 747-8 and the Airbus A350. With capacities close to 320 passengers, both aircraft have been landing at Palma’s Son San Joan International Airport from Frankfurt and Munich with full occupancy since last Saturday, April 9.

The Lufthansa Group is seeing a fundamental increase in bookings in the Spanish market. This demand is not only noticeable in the leisure segment, but also in the corporate business, which is also recovering. It will offer five additional flights at Easter between Frankfurt and Mallorca and one from Munich, operating a total of 41 flights per week. In addition, and during Easter, there will be two additional flights from Munich to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria.
At the same time, the Lufthansa Group continues to expand its range of flights to tourist and leisure destinations. For this summer season, passengers flying from Spain will be able to choose popular destinations in the United States and Canada with an unbeatable offer of destinations and connections to North America.

“Thanks to the new routes and frequencies in Spain, we will offer even more connections compared to 2019, so that our Spanish passengers have more and more possibilities to reach their destinations quickly and comfortably,” says Julia Hillenbrand, Lufthansa Group Managing Director Western Europe.
In total, Lufthansa Group will offer up to 2510 weekly flights to and from 17 Spanish airports. This figure represents a growth of 11% compared to 2019. In addition to flying from cities such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia or Bilbao, the company’s aircraft will take off from the airports of Alicante, Santiago de Compostela, Seville or Jerez de la Frontera, adding variety to the airline group’s travel offer. In addition, it will also fly to and from the Balearic Islands: Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and in the Canary Islands: Tenerife, Las Palmas, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Palma.
As a major new development, Austrian Airlines will arrive in Valencia from June 5, which means that this destination will be served by all Lufthansa Group airlines.
