Turkish Airlines and Brazil’s GOL Linhas Aéreas announced Wednesday a codeshare and FFP (Frequent Flyer Partnership) agreement.
The codeshare agreement provides that Turkish Airlines passengers coming from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, can have connections to the entire network operated by GOL in the Brazilian territory and to destinations in the region such as Asuncion, Santiago, Montevideo and Lima.
→ GOL and American Airlines close previously announced exclusive deal.
Currently, Turkish Airlines operates 7 daily flights to Sao Paulo-Guarulhos Airport (GRU).
With this agreement, Turkish Airlines passengers will be able to purchase tickets for flights operated by GOL in Brazil directly through the airline’s sales channels.
In addition to this codeshare, Turkish Airlines and GOL have reached a consensus to also launch FFP cooperation. Miles&Smiles and SMILES members will have access to mileage accrual and redemption benefits on both airlines. The FFP partnership will start shortly with redemption, with accrual benefits to follow.
→ Mercadolibre, Brazilian airline Gol announce logistics partnership.
“As Turkish Airlines, we are pleased to launch the codeshare and FFP cooperation with GOL, which will allow passengers to enjoy unique travel alternatives via Istanbul to Brazilian domestic routes. They will enjoy the benefits of FFP with the new flight options along with a more convenient travel experience. With this opportunity, we also look forward to contributing to business relations between our respective countries,” commented Bilal Ekşi, CEO of Turkish Airlines.
“As two of the leading airlines in Brazil and Turkey, GOL and Turkish Airlines offer the best experience to their passengers. Enabling Turkish Airlines passengers to reach the largest number of flights and destinations in Brazil with this agreement is a pleasure for us,” says Paulo Kakinoff, President of GOL.
