Wingo inaugurates flights between Medellin and Santo Domingo

Wingo inaugurated this Thursday its non-stop flights between Medellin and Santo Domingo, becoming the only airline to offer this route. In addition, the low cost airline consolidates its fourth international destination from Medellín, and the second to the Dominican Republic.

“Our priority to put the traveler at the center of everything we do is the main reason to continue offering world-class destinations in the region, and we are excited to add Santo Domingo to our list, as it is part of our sustainable expansion plan that expects to have a 62% increase in available seat capacity this year compared to last year,” said Jorge Jimenez, CEO of Wingo. “With this international route, which is the fourth from Medellín, we reaffirm our vast knowledge of this market and we are proud to continue strengthening our position as Colombia’s largest low-cost airline in terms of destinations operated abroad,” concluded the director.

The Undersecretary of Tourism of Medellín, headed by Pablo Hernán Vélez Rave, leader of the Undersecretary of Tourism of Medellín, mentioned that “the inauguration of this new route generates great expectations among travelers, it is estimated that Medellín will receive approximately 1,200 new visitors and the economic spillover, motivated by tourism activity, is estimated at 1’100,000USD per month. These figures materialize the priority bet for the reactivation that is accompanied by cultural exchange. In addition, the islanders of Santo Domingo will have the opportunity to get to know a city that offers good hotels, rich gastronomy, events and fairs throughout the year”.
