The Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, David Collado Morales, and the CEO of Wingo, Eduardo Lombana, signed a Tourism Cooperation Agreement that seeks to boost travel to this Caribbean destination by Colombian tourists.
This initiative is in line with the strengthening of the international connection that Wingo offers to this country, with direct, non-stop flights between Punta Cana and Bogota and Medellin, and between Santo Domingo and these same cities. In this way, Wingo consolidates its position as the low cost airline in the Colombian market with the largest number of routes and destinations abroad.

In order to give a greater boost and movement of Colombian tourists to the Dominican Republic, Wingo will implement an increase in capacity for the high holiday season from June to August 2022. This increase will consist of adding a weekly frequency for each of the four routes operated, which translates into more than 6,000 seats per month offered by the airline in this market.
Both the Cooperation Agreement, as well as the capacity increases scheduled for the high season, are moves that respond to the growth in demand for travelers between Colombia and the Dominican Republic. In fact, figures from Migración Colombia and ANATO show that, between January and April 2022, nearly 24 thousand Dominican travelers entered Colombia, registering a growth of 129% with respect to the same period in 2019. In turn, more than 62 thousand Colombians traveled to this Caribbean destination in the first four months of the year, which means a growth of 118% if compared to the same period of 2019.
