Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Avianca, elected Chairman of ALTA’s Executive Committee

Within the framework of the 18th ALTA AGM & Airline Leaders Forum, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Annual General Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) was held. At the meeting, which was attended by the CEOs and senior representatives of the member airlines of the organization, Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Avianca, was elected as the new President of the Executive Committee, a position he assumed immediately for a period of one year, as established in the by-laws.

Neuhauser came to Avianca in 2019 as Financial Vice President, a position from which he achieved the restructuring of the company. In 2021, he was appointed President and CEO, and since then has led strategic issues such as the Chapter 11 process and the transformation of its business vision to be a more competitive company, in line with today’s industry and the profile of the new traveler. Neuhauser holds a degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector with a focus on investment banking.

For his part, José Ricardo Botelho, Executive Director & CEO of ALTA, said, “It is a pleasure to welcome Adrian, who has been serving as ALTA’s Vice President, as Chairman of ALTA’s Executive Committee. Adrian is an extraordinary person and leader and has always been very supportive of ALTA’s work. I am convinced that this flight that takes off today will be full of positive initiatives for the association, the industry and our region, especially in the areas of sustainability, ESG, staff training and welfare, operations, technology and human factors, among other priorities to further develop commercial aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean”.

Botelho also thanked Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines, for his leadership and support during his term as Chairman of ALTA’s Executive Committee 2021-2022. The ALTA Executive Committee is composed of Adrian Neuhauser, CEO of Avianca, as Chairman; Roberto Alvo, CEO of LATAM Airlines as First Vice Chairman; and Andrés Conesa, CEO of Aeroméxico; Pedro Heilbron, CEO of COPA Airlines; Tracy Cooper, CEO of Bahamasair; and John Rodgerson, CEO of Azul, as Vice Chairmen.
