Ryanair to reopen bases in Lanzarote and Tenerife South in March 2023
Irish airline Ryanair announced Tuesday that it will reopen its bases in Lanzarote and Tenerife (Canary Islands) in March 2023, representing a total investment of 400 million euros, with 6 new routes (70 in total) and more than 10% capacity growth in the region.
After being forced to close both bases in early 2020 due to delays in the delivery of Boeing aircraft, the airline’s return to these popular vacation spots will create 120 jobs for pilots, cabin crew and highly skilled engineers.

Ryanair’s new bases in the Canary Islands will contribute:
- 4 aircraft based – 400 million euros of investment
- 120 direct jobs – 60 in Lanzarote | 60 in Tenerife
- 70 routes – 6 new routes (Cologne, Knock and Paris in Lanzarote & Bordeaux, Eindhoven and Nuremberg in Tenerife)
- 520 weekly flights – more than 10% growth
To celebrate the reopening of these bases, Ryanair has launched an offer with fares available from €29.99 for travel between April and October 2023, which must be booked by Thursday, November 24 on the airline’s website.
“We are delighted to invest over €400 million in the Canary Islands with the reopening of not one, but two new bases for the summer of 2023: Lanzarote and Tenerife. This is fantastic news for these two vacation hotspots, which attract millions of tourists looking for low fares and incredible choice,” commented Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson.
