Volotea reinforces its connectivity strategy with the islands by inaugurating a new route between Barcelona Airport and its base at Olbia Airport – Costa Smeralda (Sardinia).
The new connection will offer more than 14,000 seats on nearly 80 flights. The route will start operating in May 2023 with a frequency of two flights per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.
→ Volotea will connect Bilbao with Florence starting in 2023.
“This new route between Olbia and Barcelona contributes to increasing our connectivity with the islands and, in turn, reinforces the capacity of our Sardinia base. Volotea thus continues to expand non-stop connectivity options from all its bases in France, Italy and Spain,” said Carlos Muñoz, Founder and CEO of Volotea.
Thus, Sardinia joins the six Volotea bases connected from El Prat Airport through four routes to France (Strasbourg, Lille, Marseille and Nantes), one to Italy (Verona) and one to Spain (Asturias), which will start in March 2023.
This new connection with the Asturian base will offer 78,000 seats on more than 500 flights seven days a week with specific schedules from Monday to Thursday and on weekends to meet customer demand.
In the case of Volotea’s base at Olbia – Costa Smeralda Airport, the airline consolidates its position as the second company in destinations with 21 routes to Italian, French and Spanish cities.
