For the first time in nearly two decades, United Airlines will open two new pilot bases in May 2023: in Las Vegas with 204 pilots, and in Orlando with 300 pilots. These bases will be staffed exclusively with Boeing 737 pilots, the aircraft that primarily fly to and from these airports.
The airline indicated that the new base in Orlando could also cover Tampa Airport in the future.

These new pilot bases were chosen based on the higher concentration of United pilots who live there outside of the company’s hubs. For example, more than 1,000 of the airline’s airmen live in Florida.
The airline currently has nine pilot bases across the country, including Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Denver International Airport, Guam International Airport, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, San Francisco International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.
