ITA Airways announced Thursday a new intercontinental route between Rome and Rio de Janeiro, which will begin on October 29, 2023.
The route will operate one daily flight on Airbus A330 aircraft.
The new connections will allow ITA Airways to further strengthen its expansion in South America, following the opening of flights to Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo.

“The opening of flights to Rio de Janeiro is part of the development and growth strategies of our company’s intercontinental offer. Following this expansion strategy, this year we have also added to the already important offer to/from the United States, with new direct flights from Rome to Washington starting in June and to San Francisco starting in July,” commented Emiliana Limosani, Chief Commercial Officer of ITA Airways and CEO of Volare.
The new connection joins ITA Airways flights to New York, operated from Rome Fiumicino and Milan Malpensa airports, as well as to Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, New Delhi, Rio de Janeiro and Malè (Maldives) operated from Rome.
