The Spanish airline Volotea announced Wednesday a new route that will connect Madrid with Olbia-Costa Smeralda Airport (Italy) from May 26. This connection, which will offer around 116 flights during the summer with more than 20,800 seats, will operate three weekly frequencies, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
With the addition of this new route, the airline offers 4 international routes to France (Lyon, Nantes and Toulouse) and Italy (Olbia). In this last destination, Olbia-Costa Smeralda Airport, Volotea consolidates its position as the airline with the widest range of destinations.

“This route between Madrid and Olbia will be Volotea’s first connection to Italy, and joins the routes to Nantes, Toulouse and Lyon. We are very pleased to be able to increase our offer from the capital of Spain and provide our customers with transport alternatives,” said Gabriel Schmilovich Isgut, Volotea’s Chief Strategy Officer.
Spain is a key market for Volotea as, in 2022, the airline has completed a historic offer of 10.5 million seats and more than 9.5 million passengers, 25% more than pre-covid levels. By 2023, the outlook is for it to become the second busiest country for the airline by number of flights, routes and aircraft.
