Félix Antelo announced his resignation from the presidency of the airline Viva Air in an internal mail sent to his collaborators, which was later made public.

The executive informed that “it is with great sorrow that I am writing to inform you that I have resigned as president and CEO of Viva”.

Viva Air grounded five aircraft due to financial problems

Antelo recalled that he joined the company five years ago and that, during his tenure, he faced the change of fleet and the challenge of making Viva the most punctual airline in the country, as well as strengthening the low cost model and opening routes in record time.

“How can we forget the worst crisis in our history, the Covid-19 crisis. We spent six months with the planes grounded, but it was during that time that we brought out the best we had and showed what we were capable of,” he added, while assuring that Viva was the airline in Colombia that best faced the pandemic.

Antelo’s departure from Viva comes at a time when the company is in the midst of financial problems and its integration with Avianca is ‘up in the air’.
