Singapore Airlines named ‘Airline of the Year’ at Air Transport World Awards

Singapore Airlines has been named ‘Airline of the Year’ at the 49th annual Air Transport World (ATW) awards, which recognize merit in the airline industry. Singapore’s flag carrier received the top award for the SIA Group’s swift and effective response to the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Thus, the implementation of a strategic plan aimed at reactivating the airline’s services as soon as the borders were reopened made it possible to keep operations in a solid position and ready to meet the new needs of users. As a result, with the progressive recovery of the industry, Singapore Airlines has recorded record occupancy factors, while gradually restoring passenger capacity to attract current demand.

In addition, the jury also recognized the company’s predisposition to establish strategic alliances with other airlines, with the firm purpose of ensuring a wide, safe and complete network of destinations. In this sense, the partnership with other players involved in the sector has boosted Singapore Airlines’ positioning in the airline industry and has helped it to establish itself as one of the best options for travel to cities around the world in the wake of the health crisis.

Widely regarded as the industry’s most coveted awards, the ATWs recognize excellence in a wide range of air services and are selected by a panel of experts and analysts from ATW, Routes, Aviation Week and CAPA publications.

This is not the only recognition that Singapore Airlines has received in recent days, as it has recently been included as one of the 50 most admired companies in the world by Fortune magazine. In fact, SIA was the highest-rated Asian airline on the prestigious list, compiled from an independent survey involving more than 3,700 companies, experts and boards of directors.

“This award is a testament to the unwavering spirit of all Singapore Airlines staff. The award recognizes SIA’s unwavering commitment to the three pillars of our brand: product leadership, service excellence and network connectivity. We will continue to strive to exceed our customers’ travel expectations and set new standards in the airline industry,” said Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines.
