Colombia: Wingo increases its domestic operation by 79%.
Wingo strengthens its operations in the Colombian domestic market with the launch of three new routes, an increase in frequencies and the designation of greater capacity on routes to San Andres. In total, the airline has increased its domestic operations by 79% and seeks to contribute to the stability of the airline industry in Colombia.
“We are aware that the airline industry in Colombia has had recent episodes that affect the availability of seats on domestic flights, so we have decided to increase our capacity on domestic flights to expand the offer, from the low cost model, and thus continue to contribute to the growth of the domestic air market,” said Jorge Jimenez, Commercial and Planning Director of Wingo.
Three new routes: Barranquilla, Bucaramanga and Pereira from Bogotá
Wingo will add these three destinations to its domestic network from Bogotá. The airline will offer four weekly frequencies for each route, which will start on a staggered basis. The first to take off will be the route to Barranquilla on May 15, followed by the route to Pereira on June 5, and the last to take off will be the route to Bucaramanga on June 12.

In total, the airline will offer the market close to 19,000 seats per month on these routes, making it the only low-cost airline operating direct flights from these three cities to the country’s capital. direct flights from these three cities to the country’s capital. San Andres, with 58% more flights
The airline responds to the call of the National Government to offer more capacity to San Andres Island and will increase by 58% the operation of its two active routes to the archipelago that take off from Cartagena and Barranquilla. The airline will offer an additional frequency per week starting May 21, for the route from Ernesto Cortissoz; and an additional flight per week starting April 16, for the route from Rafael Nuñez.
On the other hand, the airline will start next April 1 a series of charter flights from Bogota and Medellin to San Andres. A total of 516 additional flights for the rest of 2023 will be marketed directly by tour operators in Bogota and Medellin, such as On Vacation, Viajes Palomares, Mayorplus and Grupos Travel.
By adding charter operations, the airline adds 658 additional flights per year, increasing its operations to San Andres by 112%, thus contributing to the tourist and economic reactivation of the archipelago.
196 additional flights on domestic routes already operated
As a complement to its strategy to strengthen the Colombian domestic market, Wingo will also add 196 flights to its current route network. The main routes benefiting from this increase in seats are those connecting Bogotá with Medellín, Santa Marta and Cartagena. These additional flights are already published on the airline’s website for travel dates during the month of April, making them a convenient alternative for the Easter holiday season.
