Iberia advances its growth plans in Peru

In a further demonstration of the importance of Latin America for Iberia’s operations, the airline has decided to bring forward its growth plans in Peru.

Specifically, starting next June, Iberia will have 11 weekly frequencies (double daily flights except Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays), which will be increased in September to 13 flights (double daily flights, except Sundays) for the rest of the summer season until the end of October. This is a reinforcement of the previously announced commitment for this year, which contemplated reaching up to 10 weekly frequencies from March to October.

Iberia Express will add 64 additional flights this Easter Week

“We see that demand between Spain and Peru is very robust, that there is growing interest from travelers in both directions, both for tourism and business, and this encourages us to advance our growth plans in the country to move towards our goal, which is to eventually offer two daily flights between Madrid and Lima,” said Mª Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s commercial, network and alliances director.

12% more capacity than in 2019

The route between Madrid and Lima is operated with Iberia’s most efficient aircraft, the Airbus A350s, with capacity for 348 passengers. This means that for the six months comprising the 2023 summer season, the airline would deploy on this corridor an offer that will exceed 210,000 seats.

These data confirm not only the full recovery of capacity on this route, but also its growth, since with this bet the number of seats this summer season will be 54% above 2022, and 12% higher than the pre-pandemic capacity in 2019.

In addition, the Madrid-Lima-Madrid flight schedules allow the best connections with Iberia’s network of destinations in Europe, which covers more than 100 cities and, beyond Lima, connecting with 12 other destinations in Peru: Arequipa, Cajamarca, Cuzco, Chiclayo, Iquitos, Juliaca, Piura, Puerto Maldonado, Tacna, Talara, Tarapoto and Trujillo.

Between Madrid and Lima in Premium Economy

Iberia is devoting much of its efforts to improving the flight experience for its customers on the Europe-Latin America corridor.

In the case of Peru, it offers them the possibility of traveling in Premium Economy, a cabin that offers greater comfort, with more space in the seat, a larger screen, seats that allow greater recline and an exclusive in-flight service. In addition, the airline offers all Iberia Plus customers free WiFi in all cabins for chatting throughout the flight.
