Interjet will resume its operations in Mexico, despite the bankruptcy process dictated this Monday by a Mexican judge, since its restructuring continues, said Alejandro del Valle de la Vega, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mexican airline.

Del Valle detailed in a video message on social networks, that the outstanding debts with workers, creditors and Mexican tax authorities will begin to be settled as of next May and estimated that by the end of the year the company will return to Mexican skies, since an extension had been requested which, “due to an error” was not submitted to the Mexican Judiciary.

“One piece of not so good news is that we have just been notified that the conciliator Gerardo Sierra did not ask for an extension, which I think must be some mistake because he had already informed us that we were going to have 90 to 120 more days of extension,” commented del Valle.

This same Monday, a Mexican judge declared the bankruptcy of the Mexican airline Interjet, after more than two years of having stopped its operations, and ordered the seizure and sale of its assets to pay the outstanding debts with its creditors.

“The trustee is ordered to proceed with the sale of the assets and rights that make up the Masa (…), seeking to obtain the highest possible proceeds from their sale, in order to make payment to creditors,” reads the resolution of Judge Saul Martinez, head of the Second District Court in Commercial Bankruptcy Matters in Mexico City.

The Mexican airline, under the name ABC Aerolíneas, began the process of insolvency proceedings in August 2022, after paralyzing its operations in December 2020 due to debts now estimated at more than US$600 million, EFE reported.
