New UK carrier Global Airlines announced Monday the purchase of its first Airbus A380 aircraft from Doric Aviation. The airline’s first transatlantic flights are scheduled for spring 2024.
Unlike other new airlines, Global Airlines, with significant backing from its investors and parent company Holiday Swap, has decided to purchase its first aircraft rather than going down the traditional leasing route.
The airline is already moving ahead with adding more A380 aircraft to its fleet, with three more acquisitions expected to join the fleet in the coming months.

“Our aspiration is to be the best way to fly, and the A380, with its unmatched levels of space, comfort and service, will be absolutely central to achieving that vision. The purchase of our first aircraft demonstrates that we are well on track to launch Global. The next step is to overhaul and refurbish the aircraft to our high specifications, providing our customers with the best experience in the sky today. Purchasing our aircraft rather than leasing them demonstrates our commitment to financial security and resilience from day one,” commented James Asquith, CEO and Founder of Global Airlines.
Global Airlines’ acquisition of the A380 was made for an undisclosed price, estimated to be in the mid-eight figures.
The airline is expected to make its official launch this summer and set out in detail its passenger proposition, a number of unique industry partnerships, as well as future route networks and growth aspirations.
