SAS to start selling tickets for its first electric flight in June
Starting June 2, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) will open seat reservations for its first commercial electric flight, with 30 seats available to fly in 2028.
SAS’ goal is to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. An important part of achieving this goal is to develop and use technological innovations such as electric aircraft on shorter journeys.

“Since its establishment in 1946, SAS has been one of the pioneers in the airline industry, being, for example, the first commercial airline operator to fly over the North Pole to significantly shorten the flight time between continents. A pioneering activity for which the airline received the Columbus Award. The fact that we can now invite our passengers to the next great milestone in the future of aviation is a natural continuation of that pioneering spirit and a significant step on our way to more sustainable aviation,” says Anko van der Werff, President and CEO of SAS.
Reservations will be available in Sweden, Norway and Denmark through flysas.com/electric.
The ticket price for the inaugural flight will be 1946 kroner (about US$178), in honor of the year SAS first began flying.
