Virgin Atlantic announced Monday the launch of new routes on three continents. The network growth comes as the airline capitalizes on sustained demand for international travel, benefiting customers with more than 250,000 additional seats across the airline’s network compared to 2019.

The airline’s international route network will be bolstered by its first foray into South America, with a new daily flight between London-Heathrow and São Paulo, Brazil, from May 13, 2024.

São Paulo is a key hub in Brazil for LATAM, Virgin Atlantic’s codeshare partner and South America’s largest airline. The partnership offers customers connections to 12 domestic airports in Brazil, including Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Florianopolis. In addition, customers traveling from São Paulo to London-Heathrow will have the option of connecting seamlessly to the British airline’s destinations in the rest of the world via Terminal 3.

Bengaluru (Bangalore), meanwhile, will become the airline’s third destination and fourth daily service to India beginning March 31, 2024.

Since 2019, Virgin Atlantic has increased capacity to India by 250%, the airline’s largest area of growth outside the United States. The new service will offer seamless connectivity customers connecting via London-Heathrow to North American destinations, such as Seattle, San Francisco and New York JFK, with Virgin Atlantic and its transatlantic partner Delta Air Lines.

Virgin Atlantic announced last week the return to Dubai of its seasonal flights, which will operate four times a week between October 2023 and March 2024. The news follows the announcement of new routes to the Maldives and Turks and Caicos, as well as inter-island flights in the Caribbean, between Barbados and Grenada and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Manchester Airport will also receive new flights, with the relaunch of seasonal summer services between Manchester and Las Vegas, three times a week from June 2024.

In parallel with the growth of the airline’s route network, the arrival of its two latest aircraft – the Airbus A350 and A330neo – contributes to an average fleet age of just 6.5 years. By the end of 2024, Virgin will have received its full order of 12 Airbus A350s, as well as the arrival of a further four A330neo.

“We are delighted to announce a number of new routes across three continents, giving our customers the opportunity to fly in style with Virgin Atlantic. From our entry into South America to our expansion into India and the growth of our premium flight portfolio, all of our customers have something to experience,” commented Shai Weiss, CEO of Virgin Atlantic.
