Virgin Australia takes delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX
Virgin Australia has marked an important milestone in its ongoing transformation by taking delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft.
This 737-8, which offers a quieter and more comfortable flying experience, is the first of 33 MAX family aircraft that Virgin Australia will take delivery of over the next five years, after the airline restructured its aircraft order in December 2020.
The aircraft joins Virgin Australia’s fleet on lease from China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings Limited (CALC).

Virgin Australia’s chief operating officer, Stuart Aggs, has said that the new MAX family aircraft are a key part of the airline’s transformation, as they not only offer a more comfortable experience for customers, but form the backbone of the airline’s decarbonization ambitions.
In addition to eight 737-8s, Virgin Australia has 25 737-10 aircraft on order for delivery starting next year.
The airline currently has a fleet of 84 Boeing 737 aircraft.
