Mexican airline Viva Aerobus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 90 A321neo aircraft to drive its international and domestic growth. This MoU would bring the airline’s order book to 170 A320 Family aircraft.
“This agreement demonstrates the strength of our company and the confidence and commitment of the shareholders and employees of Viva Aerobus to our country, to continue promoting competitiveness, connectivity and tourism, with quality and accessible air transportation for all,” said Roberto Alcántara, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Viva Aerobus.

“These aircraft, with their 240 seats, will allow us to continue improving our operational productivity levels and fuel efficiency, reducing our costs and, therefore, continuing to offer lower fares to our passengers. Simultaneously, we will be able to make progress in reducing carbon emissions per passenger to continue to accredit ourselves as the greenest airline in Mexico,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
Viva Aerobus has based its fleet renewal strategy on the A320 Family. In 2013, the airline placed an order for 52 A320 Family aircraft, the largest Airbus aircraft order placed by a single airline in Mexico at the time. In 2018, Viva Aerobus ordered 25 A321neo aircraft. To date, Viva Aerobus operates 74 A320 Family aircraft.
