Dubai International Airport (DXB) celebrates a major milestone in its recovery with passenger traffic during the first half of the year exceeding 2019 levels.
The world’s busiest international hub welcomed 41.6 million passengers in the first half of the year, slightly more than 100% compared to the traffic recorded during the first six months of 2019.
The airport posted strong results for the second quarter, with passenger traffic increasing by 42.7% year-on-year to 20.3 million. May was the busiest month in the second quarter, with 6.9 million passengers.

“It has been a rewarding first half of the year for Dubai Airport and, amid an increase in passenger numbers, we are proud to know that we are continually delivering on operational excellence and providing an exemplary experience for travelers,” commented Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports.
India continues to lead as DXB’s top destination country in terms of traffic, with 6 million passengers in the first half of the year, followed by Saudi Arabia with 3.1 million and the UK with 2.8 million. Other notable destinations include Pakistan (2 million passengers), the USA (1.8 million passengers), Russia (1.3 million passengers) and Germany (1.2 million passengers).
DXB is connected to 257 destinations in 104 countries through more than 91 international airlines.
