Eleven people were hospitalized after a Delta Air Lines flight experienced heavy turbulence as it approached Atlanta late Tuesday.
A Delta spokesman told USA Today that Flight 175 was headed to Atlanta from Milan when it encountered the turbulence.

According to Delta, the flight carried 151 passengers and 14 crew members, and was operated by an Airbus A350. Among the injured were crew members and passengers, but the airline has not disclosed the extent of the injuries.
Delta also stated that Customs and Border Protection officials ensured that passengers requiring medical attention were properly processed and cleared.
Climate change is making some types of turbulence more frequent and severe, so it is important to remember to wear your seat belt whenever you are in an airplane seat to reduce the chances of injury.
