Following the launch of a historic offer of more than one million seats and 115 routes for this summer domestically (up 27% compared to 2022 and 76% compared to 2019), Spain is positioned as Volotea’s fastest growing market. The airline operated 6,200 flights between June and August, which is 23% more than the 5,070 operated in the same period last year (and 47% more compared to 2019). In addition, in terms of occupancy, the airline has also achieved very positive results with a rate of 96% compared to an average of 94% over the last five summers.

It has thus increased its seat offer to 4.4 million, up 5% compared to the previous summer (up 37% on 2019). Finally, at the European level, Volotea has recorded an occupancy level of 94% as opposed to the average of 93% of the last five summers. Spain accounts for 17% of the seats in the company’s summer operations in Europe.

During this summer, Volotea has also remained firm in its commitment to strengthen connections with the islands by launching 23 new routes. Thus, of the more than 400 routes operated by the company, 53% correspond to those linking the mainland with the islands and also operates 104, 47%, exclusively.

In addition, 99.6% of the flights operated by the airline between June and August were on schedule (completion rate) and the cancellation rate was very low, according to data from independent consultant Cirium. In terms of punctuality, the airline remained strong in August, the most difficult month for operations, with 73% of its flights arriving on time (OTP15).

“We are very pleased with our activity in the 2023 summer season. Our historical offer of routes and seats has been very well received by our customers. Volotea’s high punctuality and high completion rate, among the highest in Europe, demonstrate the quality of the service we offer and our commitment to our passengers. These good results consolidate our business strategy and drive us to continue growing in 2024, always increasing connections between small and medium-sized cities,” said Carlos Muñoz, Founder and CEO of Volotea.

The airline expects record growth and high profitability in 2023. Through September, the company estimates sales of between €545 million and €555 million, 25% more than in the same period last year, and to reach €100 million in EBITDA. By the end of September Volotea expects to reach 10 million passengers carried in twelve months, 32% more than in the same period of 2019.
