Panama’s Copa Airlines is joining Pink Ribbon Month with its “Do It On Time” campaign. This year, the airline is once again raising its voice in support of awareness of the importance of early detection of these diseases, with a special painting on one of its new Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft that will carry the campaign’s prevention and awareness message across the skies of the Americas. This initiative not only symbolizes more than two decades of sustained effort and commitment to this cause, but also pays tribute to the airline’s employees who have faced these diseases with courage and resilience.
“At Copa Airlines, we are determined to raise awareness about health care and wellness. That’s why we are confident that our new commemorative aircraft will not only take to the skies of the Americas, but will also touch the hearts of people who see it in photos, videos or in person, reminding them of the importance of early detection and prevention. We want to bring this message of prevention and hope to our passengers, employees and customers because we believe that together we can make a difference in the fight against cancer,” said Peter Donkersloot, vice president of Human Resources for Copa Airlines.
For more than two decades, the airline has been part of the awareness campaign for Pink and Light Blue Ribbon Month, and through its “Do it on Time” campaign adds its voice to the initiatives of the office of the First Lady of the Republic of Panama, promoting timely screening examinations.

“Breast cancer prevention awareness is a responsibility that falls on all of us as a society. Copa Airlines continues to lead by example with this important initiative, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to spreading the message of prevention. This not only reaches its employees, but also its customers and the general public. Taking ‘Do it on Time’ through the skies of the Americas is an act that reminds us all of the importance of taking care of ourselves and not overlooking regular check-ups,” said the Honorable Mrs. Yazmín Colón de Cortizo, First Lady of the Republic of Panama.
In addition to this symbolic action, Copa Airlines made a $50,000 donation to the National Oncology Institute of Panama, destined to equip a new chemotherapy room that will double the current capacity of care. This gesture reinforces the airline’s ongoing commitment to the fight against cancer. According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), cancer is the second leading cause of death in the Americas. Therefore, with the message “Do it in Time” on its new aircraft, the airline seeks to transcend borders, being a constant reminder of the importance of prevention and early detection of this disease.
The new aircraft also symbolizes the result of the numerous initiatives that the airline has carried out over the last decade in its commitment to the fight against cancer. Among these initiatives is its ongoing support of the National Association of Chemotherapy Patients (ASONAPAQ). Copa Airlines has donated more than $500,000 to this association, which has been instrumental in guaranteeing adequate food for those undergoing treatment at the Oncology Institute, providing invaluable support to those who need it most.
As an integral part of its employee experience strategy, the airline actively promotes healthy lifestyles, offers free prostate and breast exams, and organizes health fairs throughout the year. In addition, the airline runs health clinics and provides an emotional support line not only for its employees, but also for their families, providing crucial support in coping with cancer-related illnesses and other conditions.
