Lufthansa Group plans to order 40 aircraft for its new subsidiary, City Airlines. The models under consideration are the Embraer E195-E2 and the Airbus A220, said Carsten Spohr, CEO of the group.
The information was revealed through a video addressed to employees, to which Aero Telegraph had access.

“We are preparing a large order for 80 aircraft, 40 of them 120- to 140-seat aircraft that will go to City Airlines,” Spohr said.
City Airlines, which has already obtained an Air Operator Certificate (AOC), is scheduled to begin operations in 2024 with Airbus A319 aircraft currently operated within the group.
The plan is for City to operate connecting flights to the Frankfurt and Munich hubs from destinations within Germany and countries in the region.
