Etihad Airways announced Wednesday that it will begin flying its Airbus A380 to New York’s JFK airport from April 22, 2024, becoming the airline’s second destination to operate the aircraft after London, after reactivating four of its ten superjumbo jets that were grounded because of the pandemic.

“We are delighted to start flying our extraordinary A380 across the Atlantic, and we know our customers love the onboard experience. Whether they fly Economy, Business, First or The Residence suite, they will enjoy the high levels of service from our crew, and will be sure to arrive in the city that never sleeps rested and relaxed,” said Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways.
Etihad will operate one of the two daily flights to New York with the A380. The other will be operated by a Boeing 787-9.
The introduction of the A380 represents a significant improvement in the airline’s capacity in the crucial U.S. market.
