Iberia Express will increase its capacity by 9% during the month of December and until January 9, with the aim of improving connectivity and facilitating tourist and family travel during the Christmas season. In total, during this period it will add 400 flights to its operations and nearly 73,000 additional seats.
“Both the December long weekend and the Christmas vacations are very important dates when connectivity becomes even more relevant and, for that reason, we have reinforced many of our routes with nearly 73,000 additional seats, so that our customers have more schedule options and connections to fly to their destination,” said Isabel Rodriguez, commercial director of Iberia Express.
The greatest reinforcements have been programmed on the routes with the Canary Islands, which will have a historical capacity of over 414,000 seats, which represents more than 57,000 additional seats and 16% more than the offer that the airline had initially programmed for these dates.

Between the north and south of Tenerife, Iberia Express will offer a total of 162,000 seats and more than 120 additional operations, operating up to 11 daily flights each way between Tenerife and Madrid. The corridor between Gran Canaria and Madrid has also been reinforced with more than 80 operations, which means nine flights each way operated by Iberia Express and nearly 138,000 seats, 12 percent more than initially planned for these dates.
This increase in capacity also extends to Fuerteventura, which will have 36 more flights; with Lanzarote, 50 additional operations have been programmed, and 26 with La Palma.
The other big bet of Iberia Express will be the Balearic Islands where the airline will add about 15,000 additional seats to the initially scheduled operations, increasing capacity by more than 12 percent during these same weeks of 2022. In total, Iberia Express will add 60 flights to the route between Madrid and Mallorca, reaching up to 8 daily flights in each direction; and will also add 14 additional flights to the route between Madrid and Menorca to reinforce this route operated by the Iberia group.
In international destinations, the airline will reinforce flights to Dublin with eight additional operations and about 1,400 seats. Throughout this period, the airline will also increase its offer to other destinations such as London and Copenhagen.
In the 2023-24 winter season, Iberia Express has implemented a commercial strategy to diversify its markets and, during this period, the airline will increase its capacity outside Spain by 11% compared to the same period in 2022.
