BAA Training, a leader in aviation training solutions, is set to significantly expand its aircraft fleet by acquiring 48 Cessna 172 Skyhawks from Textron Aviation. This is an important step in developing the biggest pilot training base in Europe, Spain. The company aims to accommodate up to 1000 students per year.

Marijus Ravoitis, CEO of BAA Training, says: “At BAA Training, we are dedicated to shaping the future of aviation by providing top-tier training facilities and resources. This strategic acquisition will grow our aircraft fleet considerably, making BAA Training capable of efficiently training up to 1000 pilots annually. Approximately 200 cadets will be supplied to our parent company, which owns 12 airlines.”

The fleet expansion is poised to elevate the student-to-aircraft ratio significantly, ensuring a more conducive learning environment and enhanced training opportunities for future aviators. The aircraft will be equipped with state-of-the- art glass cockpits, replicating real-world airline environments, and providing students with invaluable hands-on experience. Integrated with the advanced Garmin G1000 system, these aircraft will feature exceptional capabilities, including precision navigation, weather monitoring, and enhanced situational awareness.

Currently, BAA Training’s primary flight base is at Lleida-Alguaire International Airport. However, the newly bought aircraft will operate in Spain, where an additional flight base will be launched in the second half of 2024, followed by more openings in 2025 and 2026 in other parts of Europe. Consequently, the new aircraft additions will be allocated among these flight bases based on the present demand.
