Wingo is preparing for the end-of-year holiday season, which starts next Friday, December 1 and will last until January 10, 2024, when it expects to transport more than 400 thousand travelers on its route network, which will represent a 40% growth compared to the high season of 2022.

The airline will provide travelers with more than 440 thousand seats on 2,360 flights. These figures represent a 29% growth in capacity in its operation, mainly supported by the growth of flights in the Colombian domestic market, where Wingo has already consolidated its position as the third largest player in the domestic industry. The company estimates an occupancy factor of over 90% on average throughout its route network for these weeks of high demand.

Wingo inaugurates new route between Medellin and Cartagena

“At Wingo, we are preparing for our year-end peak holiday season with the highest operating volume in our history. We estimate a 40% growth in the flow of travelers during these weeks, with more than 2,360 flights operated. We will continue to be committed to offering low-cost seats in the Colombian market, with an increasingly relevant and representative operational exercise,” said Jorge Jiménez, Wingo’s Vice President of Commercial and Planning.

More than 140 additional flights due to increased demand

The airline has added 144 flights to its offer between December 2023 and January 2024, with a focus on the Colombian domestic market. Most of these additional flights are located precisely in the domestic trunk routes, with the Bogotá-Medellín, Bogotá-Santa Marta and Bogotá-Cartagena routes being the most benefited by these increases.

It is important to point out that these destinations rank first in terms of travel demand for the year-end high season, with Medellin, Cartagena, San Andres and Santa Marta being the most popular domestic destinations in the Wingo network.

A review of the international network shows an increase in demand for Caribbean destinations such as Punta Cana, Cancun, Santo Domingo and Aruba. Also noteworthy is the performance of the Bogota – Caracas – Bogota route, which has registered an increase in the flow of demand associated with the holiday season.

Flights from COP 69,900 to stimulate demand

In order to encourage greater demand for travel, Wingo joins the promotional season with its Black Fly Wingo campaign, which will be in effect until Monday, November 27, 2023.

In this way, the airline will make available 10 thousand promotional seats to fly between January 15 and June 12, 2024. Passengers will be able to access promotional fares on domestic flights from COP $69 thousand each way and from USD $88 for international flights.
