The Argentine Government announced this Friday that low cost airlines will add new air routes thanks to the “open skies” policy embodied both in the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) signed by President Javier Milei and in the draft Omnibus Law.
“The decree proposed a new regulatory framework that allows companies to project new routes, new businesses. Some cases are Jetsmart, which is going to connect Concepción in the south of Chile with Buenos Aires, and Flybondi, which launched its first flight to Mar del Plata”, announced this morning the presidential spokesman, Manuel Adorni, in a press conference.

“The aerocommercial policy of the last few years, marked by the expropriation of Aerolíneas Argentinos, limited competition and kept Argentines prisoners of a service that was not commensurate with prices,” Adorni criticized.
“This is news that makes us very happy because people who could not fly will now be able to do so”.
What are the new domestic and international low cost air routes?
“With the open skies policy promoted by the Ministry of Infrastructure, headed by Guillermo Ferraro, more and more airlines are planning to operate new routes in the country, with affordable prices and promoting competition”, states the official statement issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
It explains that:
- Flybondi, in addition to Mar del Plata, promised to expand its connectivity offer to Brazil.
- JetSmart will connect Buenos Aires with Concepción, in the south of Chile.
- Paranair will travel from the capital of Paraguay to Córdoba.
- Gol will offer flights from Buenos Aires to Bogota in the coming months.
“The company Flybondi has already started connecting Mar del Plata with the City of Buenos Aires with an inaugural flight with a 90% occupancy of its seats and representing the first low cost airline to fly to that destination. It has frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and departs from Aeroparque. It is the 18th domestic connectivity offer developed by the airline”, the Government highlights.
“In addition, Flybondi plans, in the short term, to operate new air routes that continue to enhance new destinations to expand the connectivity offer between Argentina and Brazil,” they emphasized.
“Within the framework of the initiative for the democratization of the skies promoted by President Javier Milei and with the Ministry of Infrastructure in charge of its implementation, the airline JetSmart will link Buenos Aires with Concepción (southern Chile) without passing through Santiago as of March. This air route is in addition to the two services that the company operates between Chile and Argentina, linking in this case the city of Santiago with Buenos Aires and Mendoza”, the Government published in the communiqué.
