The 45th edition of the international tourism fair, FITUR, opened this Wednesday in Madrid, where Mexican authorities were present at an event at the Iberia stand in Pavilion 10 of the Ifema convention center.

During the meeting, María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial, Network and Alliances Director, emphasized that “Mexico is a fundamental market for Iberia; it has been our largest long-haul destination in recent years and we have been connecting Mexico City with Madrid since 1950”.

Mª Jesús has announced that next February 29th Espacio Iberia will open its doors once again, and again outside Spain, as it will move to one of the most representative and emblematic areas of Mexico City in order to show customers and the general Mexican public all the experience and the latest news of the airline.

Espacio Iberia will be located at 123 Aristóteles Street, in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, and will be open from 11am to 8pm. All those who come will be able to taste the onboard menus free of charge and enjoy various activities that will be organized, such as showcooking, wine tastings and other Spanish products.

In addition, to live the experience on board Iberia, they will be able to try on the historical uniforms of the company’s staff and will have a flight simulator to get at the controls of an airplane without leaving the city.

The choice of Mexico as the new destination outside Spain for Iberia Space is explained by the fact that, for several years now, it has been the long-haul market in Iberia’s network with the greatest connectivity, with three daily flights between Mexico City and Madrid since 2022, which translates into a capacity of more than 760,000 seats per year.
