Sky Airline began operations in Uruguay again this Tuesday with four routes linking the South American country with the cities of Lima, Santiago de Chile, Florianópolis and Salvador de Bahia.
The company’s first flight arrived in the morning from the Chilean capital at Carrasco International Airport, which estimates that it will transport some 100,000 passengers to and from Uruguay in its first year of operations.
Uruguay is the ninth country to join Sky’s network of destinations, which already has close to 50 routes in the continent.

On the other hand, Aerolíneas Argentinas will add as from Tuesday a new route connecting the Uruguayan capital with the city of Bariloche.
On October 30, Montevideo resumed its air connection with Miami through American Airlines, while on November 3 it was connected with the Brazilian city of Curitiba through Azul Airlines.
Accordingly, the South American country now has direct connections to 13 cities: Madrid, Panama City, Asunción, Santiago de Chile, Lima, São Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba and Miami.
This figure was increased with the new Sky and Aerolíneas Argentinas routes, so that the connection will be to 16 cities.
Uruguay’s air connectivity increased in 2023 compared to the previous year after the country’s two main airports added 24 new frequencies.
