Turkish Airlines announces flights to Melbourne, its first destination in Australia

Turkish Airlines announced Friday that it will connect Istanbul to Melbourne, its first destination in Australia, starting March 15, 2024.

The route will operate three weekly flights with a stopover in Singapore, using Boeing 787-9 aircraft with capacity for 300 passengers: 30 in Business Class and 270 in Economy.

To celebrate the announcement, the airline launched a special offer with prices starting from US$1199 to fly from Istanbul to Melbourne, and from US$990 for flights between Melbourne and Istanbul.

“Today is an important day for us. We have realized our goal of reaching the Australian continent, which we have been working on for some time,” said Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee Dr. Ahmet Bolat.

This makes Melbourne the 346th destination for Turkish Airlines and Australia the 130th country.

In the coming years, the airline intends to operate direct flights to Melbourne and other potential cities in Australia with the acquisition of new aircraft capable of non-stop flights.
