India’s largest airline IndiGo is planning to induct up to five Boeing 737 Max aircraft on short term damp lease to mitigate shortfall caused by grounding of aircraft by Pratt & Whitney engine problems.
People aware of the development said that the airline is planning to lease the planes from Qatar Airways for a period of six months for the busy summer travel season.

Under the terms of the agreement, Qatar Airways will provide the aircraft, maintenance services and pilots, while cabin crew will be from IndiGo, The Economic Times of India reported.
Problems with GTF engine
With a fleet of 281 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, IndiGo is currently facing operational challenges.
The carrier has a total of 56 of these aircraft grounded due to problems with the Pratt and Whitney GTF engines.
With a considerable number of aircraft on the ground and projections indicating further disruptions in 2024, IndiGo has been actively seeking additional capacity.
