Delta to resume flights between New York-JFK and Lagos, Nigeria

Delta Air Lines announced Friday that it will resume daily flights to Lagos, Nigeria, from New York-JFK beginning Dec. 1. It is also making upgrades to the fleet operating flights to Ghana and South Africa.

“These enhancements reflect our dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our customers. We are expanding our options for customers to experience the premium service and elevated hospitality they have come to expect from Delta,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning.

The New York-Lagos route will be operated on Airbus A330-200 aircraft, where travelers will be able to choose between Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Economy Class cabins.

Delta to resume Tel Aviv service from New York in June

The airline currently operates daily service between Atlanta and Lagos. With the resumption of daily flights from New York-JFK, Delta will offer a total of 14 weekly flights to Nigeria in December through the first half of January and 10 weekly frequencies for the remainder of the winter.

Delta carries more than half a million passengers each year between the United States and Africa on more than 34 weekly flights.

Premium Upgrades in Service to Ghana and South Africa

By the end of October 2024, the airline will operate its flights to Accra (Ghana) with the 281-passenger Airbus A330-900, adding nearly 1,000 more seats each week, providing 30% more capacity between the two countries.

Delta currently offers daily year-round flights to Ghana’s capital city from New York’s JFK Airport operated by Boeing 767 aircraft.

Delta is also upgrading its aircraft operating routes between Atlanta and South Africa, where it offers 10 weekly flights year-round to Johannesburg and Cape Town.

The airline announced that it will incorporate the Airbus A350-900 on both routes: June 20 to Johannesburg and September 9 to Cape Town.
