Wingo transported more than 50,000 passengers between Colombia and Venezuela in eight months

With more than 50 thousand passengers transported between Colombia and Venezuela in eight months of operations, Wingo is the airline with the most robust and representative operation between the two countries.

With seven frequencies per week, four on the Bogotá – Caracas route and three on the Medellín – Caracas route, Wingo now offers more than 10,000 seats per month between the two markets. The airline has managed to conquer 40% of the travelers in the market between Colombia and Venezuela, according to the operational balance published by the Civil Aeronautics.

“These 50 thousand travelers reflect the good acceptance of the Wingo product in the Colombia-Venezuela market. Our high occupancy factors are evidence of the need and demand for a direct connection between both nations. We will continue to be the favorite option for travelers in this market and our route network decisions are moving in that direction,” said Eduardo Lombana, CEO of Wingo.

Eight months of operation of the Bogotá – Caracas route

After eight months of operation on this route, Wingo has reached an occupancy rate of close to 90% with more than 40 thousand passengers transported.

The majority of travelers using this route are Venezuelan nationals, with a diversity of profiles ranging from business travelers to ethnic passengers, who travel to Caracas to reconnect with family members.

At the end of 2023, Wingo transported 41% of the passengers on this route, when there were already about five options in the market with available frequencies. It is important to mention that, in December 2023, the company increased its capacity on this route with an additional frequency to reach four weekly (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday).

Three months after Medellín – Caracas

After 90 days of operation on this route, Wingo has reached an occupancy rate of over 70% with more than 10 thousand passengers transported.

Operational data for the first three months of the year show that 90% of the origin/destination Medellín-Caracas passengers traveled through Wingo. The airline currently offers three flights per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday).
