A Boeing 737-300, carrying 78 passengers and six crew members, ran off the runway while taking off from Senegal’s main airport, injuring 11 people.
Blaise Diagne Airport reported that the accident occurred at around 01.00 GMT on Thursday when the plane, owned by Transair and chartered by Air Senegal, was about to take off for Bamako, Mali.

The airport statement indicates that emergency protocols were activated to evacuate passengers.
“For now, the airport is closed … It is expected to reopen in the next few hours,” he added.
