Wingo surpassed one million passengers transported during the first four months of 2024. The airline closed the month of April with 1,057,000 passengers transported and grew 37% compared to the same period of 2023.
This result is in line with its business plan, which projects to culminate 2024 with more than 3.4 million travelers mobilized and to grow 16% in the annualized fiscal year. Wingo’s performance between January and April even exceeds the average of the air transportation industry in Colombia, since the entire sector grew by 15.7% according to figures published by the Civil Aeronautics.

“The results of the first four months of the year are evidence of the airline’s good momentum in the Colombian market. We reached our first million passengers mobilized according to our estimates. We are convinced that the low-cost model in Colombia continues to be in force and is gaining more and more ground in the preference of Colombian travelers,” said Eduardo Lombana, CEO of Wingo.
Fastest growing destinations:
Wingo recorded passenger growth on routes in both the domestic and international markets. From the domestic perspective, the destinations with the highest growth in demand are beach destinations such as Cartagena, Santa Marta and San Andres. It is important to point out that the airline has responded to this demand with additional seats on routes to these three Colombian Caribbean destinations.
Regarding international destinations, the airline highlights the growth in demand for destinations to the Caribbean such as Punta Cana, Cancun, Aruba and Havana, where it has implemented capacity additions. It also highlights the good performance of the Colombia – Venezuela market, where Wingo is the most relevant player with seven weekly frequencies between both territories, which it connects through its two operating routes: Bogota – Caracas and Medellin – Caracas.
Following the operational data published, Wingo, Copa Holdings’ low-cost airline, ranks as the third largest air carrier in the country, reaffirming its position as the low-cost airline with the most robust presence in the Colombian market with 35 operating routes.
