Qatar Airways requests authorization to fly to Bogota, Colombia

Qatar Airways submitted a request to operate daily passenger flights on the Doha-Bogota-Doha route during the world slots conference organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), according to Colombia’s Civil Aeronautics Authority (Aerocivil).

Aerocivil said that the route would start in May 2025 and would be operated by Boeing 777X aircraft. However, this aircraft model, of which Qatar Airways ordered 60 aircraft, is still in the certification process and is expected to enter service in 2026.

“This new route will facilitate the connection between both destinations, boosting tourism and trade. In addition, it will benefit Colombian travelers with access to Asia and the Middle East, becoming a new tourist connection to Colombia,” stated the Aerocivil in its official X account.

The agency said that it will carry out work tables to ensure that the operation complies with all the technical and regulatory requirements necessary for the implementation of this route.

If completed, Qatar Airways would be the second Middle Eastern airline to fly Colombia, after Emirates began operations in June of this year.
