As part of its plan to consolidate the most extensive network in its history, Avianca began operating two new routes that will continue to strengthen Medellin’s international connectivity.
This Monday, the airline began daily flights between Medellín and Panama City. A day later, it inaugurated the Medellín-São Paulo route, which will operate three weekly frequencies.
Both routes are operated on Airbus A320 fleet aircraft, with capacity for 180 passengers.

“The opening of these two new routes, added to the five we have already opened this year in Medellin and the entry into operation of the route to Guayaquil in the coming days, represents a significant increase in the international connectivity of the city and Colombia, providing our customers access to new destinations. This increase in the international offer represents a total of 30 routes for Medellín by the end of 2024,” said David Alemán, Avianca’s Sales Director for Colombia and South America.
With the entry into operation of these new services during December, Avianca’s customers in Medellin will have a total of 30 routes to 12 domestic and 18 international destinations:
- Domestic: Bogota, Cartagena, Monteria, San Andres, Riohacha, Pereira, Cucuta, Barranquilla, Armenia, Bucaramanga, Santa Marta and Cali.
- International: San Juan, Miami, Santiago, Lima, Orlando, San José, Cancun, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Mexico City, Punta Cana, New York, Quito, Aruba, San Salvador, Panama City, São Paulo and soon Guayaquil.
