The national airline of Latvia, airBaltic, announced this Wednesday a strategic partnership with SUA Líneas Aéreas, a new airline from Uruguay.
Partnership Details
The agreement establishes that airBaltic will lease up to five Airbus A220-300 aircraft to SUA under a wet lease modality (including crew, maintenance, and insurance) starting in October 2025. Additionally, the Latvian airline will provide support in various key areas, including:
- Operational setup
- Pilot training
- Know-how sharing
- Automation and technology implementation
- Sustainability initiatives

Impact on Regional Connectivity
SUA Líneas Aéreas plans to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2025, connecting major cities in Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. Its primary goal is to reduce travel times and offer direct alternatives for passengers who currently face limited or inconvenient options.
The alliance between airBaltic and SUA Líneas Aéreas represents a significant step towards improving connectivity in Latin America, combining the expertise of an established airline with the vision of a new emerging company.
