Avianca Requests Authorization to Fly from Bogotá to Dallas

Avianca has submitted a request to the Civil Aeronautics Authority of Colombia for the opening of a new international route connecting El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá with Dallas-Fort Worth in the United States. This request aims to expand connectivity between both countries and offer passengers new flight options.

According to the submitted documentation, Avianca plans to operate this route with a frequency of seven flights per week, meaning one flight per day. To achieve this, the airline will use Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft. Additionally, the request includes operations under third and fourth freedom rights of the air.

If the request is approved, Avianca would enter a market currently monopolized by American Airlines, which is currently the only airline operating direct flights between Bogotá and Dallas-Fort Worth with a daily frequency. Avianca’s entry would provide a competitive alternative for travelers, potentially leading to better fares and more schedule options.

The establishment of this new route would strengthen Avianca’s presence in the international market and enhance connectivity between Colombia and one of the busiest airports in the United States.
