In 2025, Swiss airline Edelweiss celebrates three decades of operations with a track record of growth and innovation. From humble beginnings with two McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft, the company has evolved significantly. Today, it operates a fleet of five Airbus A340s and fourteen Airbus A320s. This anniversary year promises to be especially memorable as the company prepares to add six Airbus A350 aircraft, marking a milestone in its commitment to sustainability, comfort and efficiency.

Airbus A350: Efficiency and Comfort at its best

The new Airbus A350 symbolizes the future of Edelweiss. Designed to offer maximum operational efficiency and a superior flight experience, this model is a key step towards greener aviation. The first flight is scheduled for April 1, 2025, with Tenerife as the initial destination. During the first three months, the A350 will operate on short- and medium-haul routes for crew training. Subsequently, it will begin long-haul flights, with Las Vegas being the first city to receive the aircraft.

In July 2025, the second Airbus A350 will join the fleet, enabling Edelweiss to operate the Zurich-Vancouver-Zurich route with daily flights. With this expansion, the airline will not only enhance its passenger offering, but also reaffirm its leadership in the leisure travel sector from Switzerland.

Creation of New Job Opportunities

The growth of the long-haul fleet brings with it great news for industry professionals: Edelweiss has announced an expansion of its training programs for cabin crew and pilots in 2025. More than 300 places will be offered for flight attendants and more than 40 for aviators.

New Destinations: Exploring the World with Edelweiss

Edelweiss’ commitment to exploration and discovery is reflected in the expansion of its network of destinations. In 2025, the airline will include new long-haul routes to Halifax (Canada) and Seattle (USA). On short- and medium-haul routes, passengers will be able to enjoy flights to destinations such as Bristol (England), Calvi (Corsica), Tbilisi (Georgia), Terceira (Azores) and Zadar (Croatia).
