Hawaiian Airlines has unveiled of what will be its largest investment in premium lounges at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu. This project, set to be completed by the end of 2027, promises to transform the traveler experience and stands out as one of the most significant improvements in airport services across the Hawaiian Islands. Below, we delve into the details and impact of this initiative.
A Design Inspired by Hawaii’s Natural Beauty
The new lounge will be located at the entrance of the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1 and will be five times larger than the existing lounge in Honolulu. Hawaiian Airlines drew inspiration from Hawaii’s rich natural elements to design a space that celebrates the islands’ beauty and warmth. According to the initial design concepts, the lounge will feature:
- Sculptural elements and organic shapes that evoke the local landscape.
- Bold pops of color that reflect the vibrant energy of Hawaii.
- Reflective beams of light that create a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere for travelers.
This unique design aims not only to provide comfort but also to surprise and captivate guests with a visually stunning and sensory-rich environment.

A Space for All Premium Travelers
The new premium lounge will benefit not only Hawaiian Airlines passengers but also those flying with Alaska Airlines, thanks to a collaboration between the two carriers. While specific details about the final design and access criteria will be announced at a later date, the promise of an unparalleled travel experience is already generating excitement.
“Our new Honolulu lounge will be a celebration of our guests’ journey, thoughtfully crafted to honor the beauty and warmth of our island home. This space reinforces our commitment to providing an unrivaled travel experience that reflects the values of our hometown airline”, Alisa Onishi, Hawaiian Airlines’ Director of Brand and Culture, said.
This project is not an isolated effort. Hawaiian Airlines has been actively investing in enhancing its customer experience at airports across the islands.
As the 2027 opening date approaches, more updates about this ambitious project are expected. Without a doubt, the new lounge will reflect Hawaiian Airlines’ dedication to its values and community.
