Comprehensive Review and Testing Phase

As part of the pre-opening process, a comprehensive review of the airport will be conducted at the end of February 2025. This thorough analysis aims to ensure compliance with all necessary measures to guarantee an orderly and seamless start of operations.

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Raúl Pérez Reyes, emphasized that the rescheduling of the start of operations results from a coordinated effort between the MTC, LAP, and the aviation community, prioritizing safety, regularity, and operational efficiency. Training and Operational Adjustments

The additional period before the inauguration will allow for comprehensive operational tests to evaluate the terminal’s functionality, identify areas for improvement, and apply corrections if necessary. Additionally, training will continue for personnel, airlines, and specialized services to ensure that all stakeholders are fully familiar with the new operational procedures.

Currently, technical teams from the MTC, LAP, and the airport community are working together to determine whether the transition to the new airport will be gradual or immediate. This decision will be crucial in minimizing disruptions and optimizing the experience for passengers and airline operators.

Government Commitment to a Safe Transition

The government, in coordination with all involved parties, reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a safe, efficient, and orderly transition to the new Jorge Chávez International Airport.

The inauguration of the new terminal is a strategic step toward establishing Lima as a leading air hub in South America, providing travelers with an enhanced experience featuring cutting-edge technology and greater operational capacity.
