American Airlines is gearing up for winter with an expanded offering of routes to warm destinations. Starting in November 2025, the airline will launch new flights to Cancún, Mexico, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, while also expanding its operations to Hawaii, South America, and Europe.
With over 270 daily departures at peak demand, American solidifies its position as the airline with the most flights to Caribbean and Latin American destinations from the United States.
Expansion to Cancún and Punta Cana
Beginning November 8, American will become the first airline to offer international flights from Oklahoma City, with a new Saturday route to Cancún operated using Boeing 737 aircraft.
Meanwhile, Punta Cana is emerging as a key destination for the airline. Starting December 6, four new routes will be introduced from Indianapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Raleigh-Durham, all operating on Saturdays with Boeing 737s.

Growth in Hawaii and South America
Just in time for the holiday season, American will increase its service from Dallas-Fort Worth to Hawaii. Starting October 26, flights to Kona will resume, and a second daily frequency to Kahului will be added. Additionally, Chicago-O’Hare will offer daily flights to Honolulu using Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
For South America, the airline will ramp up operations with up to four daily flights between Miami and Buenos Aires, Argentina, starting December 18. The connection between Dallas-Fort Worth and Sao Paulo, Brazil, will also be strengthened, with 10 weekly flights beginning December 3—a 40% increase on this route.
Flights to Europe and New U.S. Routes
For travelers who prefer autumn and winter in Europe, American will extend its seasonal services on key routes:
- New York (JFK) — Barcelona (Spain) until December 2.
- Philadelphia — Athens (Greece) until November 17.
- Dallas-Fort Worth — Dublin (Ireland) until January 6, 2026.
Additionally, starting October 6, new domestic connections will be launched in the U.S., including flights between Los Angeles and Des Moines, and between Phoenix and Little Rock.
For ski enthusiasts, American will introduce a new seasonal route between Charlotte and Aspen starting December 19, providing easy access to one of Colorado’s most popular ski resorts.
American Airlines continues to reinforce its position as a global connectivity leader. The new flights will offer access to premium cabins with lie-flat seats and an onboard entertainment catalog featuring over 1,500 options.
