Boeing and Korean Air have finalized an unprecedented agreement for the purchase of up to 50 wide-body aircraft, including 20 Boeing 777-9s, 20 Boeing 787-10s, and options for 10 additional Dreamliners. This deal marks the largest aircraft acquisition in the history of the South Korean airline and will play a pivotal role in its integration with Asiana Airlines.
The commitment was initially announced at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024 and has now been formalized. With this order, Korean Air will continue to modernize its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft, enhancing its global operational capacity.
A Relationship of More than 50 Years
Walter Cho, Chairman and CEO of Korean Air and Hanjin Group, emphasized the significance of the agreement: “For over 50 years, Korean Air and Boeing have built a relationship grounded in trust and mutual growth. Today, we further strengthen our historic alliance with this landmark order.”

The Merger with Asiana
Since its merger with Asiana Airlines last year, Korean Air has been undergoing a transformation to become one of the world’s largest airlines. Recently, it unveiled its new visual identity with the livery refresh of a 787-10, marking the first step toward operating as a single entity.
With this strategic move, Korean Air reaffirms its commitment to innovation and excellence, solidifying its role as a key player in the global aviation industry.
