Air New Zealand has officially revealed its highly anticipated new uniform, a collection that marks the beginning of a new era for the airline and proudly celebrates the culture and creativity of Aotearoa. More than just an aesthetic refresh, this design represents a fusion of high fashion, national identity, and sustainability.
A Collaboration with a New Zealand Soul
Designed by renowned fashion designer Emilia Wickstead and featuring custom prints by tā moko artist Te Rangitu Netana, the uniform is not merely workwear—it’s a statement of values. The pieces stand out for their bold colors, precise cuts, and cultural motifs that pay homage to the land, history, and spirit of New Zealand.
Greg Foran, CEO of Air New Zealand, captures the essence of the project: “For us, this is more than a uniform. It’s a celebration of our people, our culture, and our values.”

Additionally, pilots will debut a pinstriped suit with an inner lining featuring a kiwi feather print, symbolizing leadership and prestige.
Sustainability in Design
Air New Zealand is also advancing its environmental commitment. The new garments are made from responsible materials, including:
- Recycled polyester and organic cotton for pilot shirts.
- High-quality Merino wool for knitwear.
- A blend of recycled polyester and wool for suits.
- Dresses and blouses crafted entirely from recycled polyester.
These steps are part of a long-term plan to minimize the airline’s environmental impact and promote a more ethical supply chain.
Pride Worn on the Sleeve
Over 6,000 Air New Zealand employees worldwide will wear this new look. The airline plans to begin wearer trials in May 2025, with the official uniform launch scheduled for 2026.
Emilia Wickstead shared her thoughts on the project: “This uniform needed to tell a meaningful story about Aotearoa. I wanted to create something that empowers the wearer and sparks pride in those who see it.”
With this new collection, Air New Zealand strengthens its visual identity, transforming each garment into a cultural canvas—a visual and emotional experience that connects the airline with its people, its land, and the world.
