Avelo Airlines is celebrating. Today marks the fourth anniversary of its inaugural flight, which took off on April 28, 2021, from Hollywood Burbank Airport to Sonoma County Airport in the Bay Area. With that maiden voyage, Avelo became the first new airline in the United States in nearly 15 years, ushering in a new era of affordable, comfortable, and reliable air travel for millions of passengers.
Numbers Reflect Steady Growth
Since its launch, the airline has transported nearly seven million customers and operated over 55,000 flights. Today, it connects 54 destinations through more than 90 routes and has solidified its reputation as one of the most reliable airlines in the country. The company has also grown to over 1,100 employees, eight aircraft and crew bases, and a fleet of 20 Boeing 737 Next-Generation aircraft.
Special Anniversary Promotion
To celebrate these first four years, Avelo is launching the promotional code “4YEARS,” offering a 40% discount on base fares for select round-trip flights between May and November. Tickets can be purchased on its official website.

Andrew Levy, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Avelo Airlines, stated: “Four years ago, Avelo took off with a simple yet powerful purpose: to Inspire Travel. Since then, we’ve fulfilled that mission for nearly seven million customers.” Levy also highlighted the expansion to 54 destinations, including Puerto Rico and four international locations: the Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, underscoring the airline’s commitment to providing affordable and accessible options.
Expanding the Route Network
When it began operations, Avelo served 11 destinations on the West Coast. Today, it flies to 54 cities across 21 states, in addition to the aforementioned international destinations. In just four years, its network grew from 10 to 93 routes. Over the next two months, it will add 14 new routes and open three new destinations: Grand Rapids (Michigan), Long Island (New York), and Nassau (Bahamas).
New Operational Bases
In 2025, the airline opened two new bases at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport and Wilmington International Airport in North Carolina. These join its existing bases in Burbank, Tweed-New Haven, Wilmington, Raleigh-Durham, and Lakeland.
Operational Excellence
In terms of reliability, Avelo leads the pack. In 2024, it achieved the lowest flight cancellation rate in the U.S. airline industry (0.48%) and ranked first in on-time performance, with 83.9% of its flights arriving within the scheduled 15-minute window, according to data from Anuvu, the platform used by The Wall Street Journal for its annual rankings.
Growing Fleet
From just three Boeing 737 NGs at the start, Avelo now operates 20 aircraft: 12 Boeing 737-800s with 189 seats and 8 Boeing 737-700s with 149 seats. Additionally, it has commitments to add two more aircraft by mid-2025.
In just four years, Avelo Airlines has proven that sustainable growth, operational reliability, and customer focus are a winning combination. With more destinations, new aircraft, and a promise to keep innovating, the airline is cementing its position as a preferred choice for travelers seeking an affordable, convenient, and reliable flying experience.
