British Airways has taken a significant step in expanding its global network by resuming flights to Kuala Lumpur and Tbilisi. These destinations mark a strategic reconnection with Malaysia and Georgia, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to intercontinental connectivity.
Return to Kuala Lumpur
For the first time in five years, British Airways has reinstated its flights to Malaysia’s capital. The inaugural flight departed from London-Heathrow on April 1 at 21:10 (local time) and landed in Kuala Lumpur on April 2 at 17:20. Passengers on the first flight were greeted with special gifts.
The airline will operate a daily service on this route using its Boeing 787-9 fleet, offering four cabin classes: World Traveller, World Traveller Plus, Club World, and First, with round-trip fares starting from £574.
Additionally, British Airways has expanded its codeshare agreement with Malaysia Airlines, giving travelers access to over 17 additional routes from Kuala Lumpur, including key destinations in Australia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Tbilisi Back on the Route Map
After an absence since 2013, British Airways has reintroduced its route to Georgia’s capital. The first flight left London-Heathrow on March 30 at 21:25 and arrived in Tbilisi at 05:30 the following day.
Georgia, located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, is renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and 8,000-year-old winemaking tradition. The airline will offer two cabin options on this route: Club Europe and Euro Traveller, with round-trip fares starting from £244. Euro Traveller passengers will receive a complimentary snack and drink, while Club Europe passengers will enjoy access to VIP lounges, meal service, priority boarding, and additional baggage allowance.
Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Director of Planning and Strategy, remarked: “We are delighted to welcome Malaysia and Georgia back to our network. Our teams have worked hard to reinstate these routes and provide our customers with more travel options for both business and leisure.”
Expansion on Other International Routes
The airline has also announced an increase in its service between London-Heathrow and Tokyo-Haneda, rising to two daily flights starting March 30, 2025. With this expansion, British Airways will operate 14 weekly flights to the Japanese capital, using A350 aircraft with three cabin classes: World Traveller, World Traveller Plus, and Club World.
Furthermore, the company will launch three new routes to Italy in May: Rimini (May 15 from Heathrow), Salerno (May 22 from Gatwick), and Olbia (May 25 from London City), bringing its total number of Italian destinations to 19.
Lastly, British Airways has strengthened its presence in the Middle East by increasing flights to Riyadh. The airline will offer nearly double the frequencies compared to last year, providing over 80,000 additional seats. The flights, scheduled to operate almost daily, will enhance connectivity between the UK and Saudi Arabia.
With these new routes and increased frequencies, British Airways continues to solidify its position as a leading global airline in connectivity.
